Children learn when they play. Not only motor skills, creativity, and concentration, but also social skills. When building, role-playing, when reading, and play-acting the story together – different mental, emotional and social skills are promoted in every situation.
The intuitively improvising right brain discovers new possibilities of how the blocks, rainbows, and dolls can be placed on top of each other or how the story of the book could continue in a different way, while the analytically rational left brain deals with physical contexts, how a wooden arch construction stays stable, or with assigning colors and sizes.
In this way, both hemispheres of the brain are playfully connected and active.
PEDAGOGICALLY WELL-THOUGHT-OUT READ-ALOUD BOOK
While developing the set, we noticed: Children find endless ways to play with the rainbow and wooden dolls, and free play with them is very valuable and beautiful.
However, to add a lovingly thought-out book to this wonderful wooden playset was a matter close to our hearts. Because we think that many more children should get to know their own real superpowers within them!
And for us, this includes the “superpower” of getting to know one’s own emotions and making one’s own decisions: How do I want to experience this situation? How do I want to feel?
Willi makes this decision three times in the book. Depending on the decision, the story continues differently.
Willi has the superpower to make decisions. Every child can draw conclusions about himself very quickly and knows: I can do that too!
