Children learn when they play. Not only motor skills, creativity, and concentration, but also social skills. When building, role-playing, when reading, and play-acting the story together – different mental, emotional and social skills are promoted in every situation.

The intuitively improvising right brain discovers new possibilities of how the blocks, rainbows, and dolls can be placed on top of each other or how the story of the book could continue in a different way, while the analytically rational left brain deals with physical contexts, how a wooden arch construction stays stable, or with assigning colors and sizes.

In this way, both hemispheres of the brain are playfully connected and active.

PEDAGOGICALLY WELL-THOUGHT-OUT READ-ALOUD BOOK

While developing the set, we noticed: Children find endless ways to play with the rainbow and wooden dolls, and free play with them is very valuable and beautiful.

However, to add a lovingly thought-out book to this wonderful wooden playset was a matter close to our hearts. Because we think that many more children should get to know their own real superpowers within them!

And for us, this includes the “superpower” of getting to know one’s own emotions and making one’s own decisions: How do I want to experience this situation? How do I want to feel?

Willi makes this decision three times in the book. Depending on the decision, the story continues differently.

Willi has the superpower to make decisions. Every child can draw conclusions about himself very quickly and knows: I can do that too!

The read-aloud book playfully encourages children to observe the consequences of our decisions in their own lives, because the story continues differently depending on the choices they make!

With the wooden figures of the set, the story can be play acted in a child-friendly way.

As educators, moms, authors, and toy developers we have always asked ourselves: How can we actually support and strengthen children so that they are well prepared for the future? How can they learn to create their own happy and fulfilled lives?

As mothers, we have quickly observed: The main occupation of children is playing. It is through play that children discover the world and develop their own individuality. That’s why a better future starts with play.

That’s also why we did not just develop a wooden set with educational value, but we also wrote our own book “Willies colors” to support parents and educators in offering a highly motivational message to kids: That they are in charge of their life, of their emotions and of their future! And how it can be a very amazing and bright one!
